Love Held Us Together When Incarceration Kept Us Apart

We are Sibil “Fox” and Robert “Rob” Richardson, a New Orleans–based couple whose fairytale of love was derailed by struggle and forged in steel. 

In 1997, one desperate decision to rob a bank resulted in a 21-year consequence that stole more from us than we could ever get away with in a robbery.  

Prison walls may have separated us, but they didn’t define us, and with the responsibility of raising six sons, we chose not to be broken, but to fight for our freedom and the future of our legacy.

For over two decades, we captured our journey through video diaries, raw home footage and intimate glimpses of our day-to-day life. What emerged from it all was TIME, an Oscar-nominated documentary that chronicled the resilience, faith and radical love it takes to survive a system built to tear Black families apart.
